Fans and Musos Blister in the Sun at the Big Day Out
It was all about the sweat, sun and rock & roll at Sydney’s Olympic stadium yesterday, as over 53,000 festival goers braved 40 degree temperatures for the first day of Sydney’s Big Day Out.
Brissie band Powderfinger headlined the vibe-fest for the bazillionth time (we jest, we jest) and were joined by Eskimo Joe, Jet and The Hilltop Hoods on the BDO stages. But it wasn’t all about the locals. UK rapper Dizzee Rascal, sans the deadly deodorant, and music heavyweights Muse and Lily Allen set off a frenzy as they sweltered through their sets. Though Lily did manage to raise a few eyebrows, taking the stage in a leg-and-dimple-revealing kaftan and leopard print knickers (as you do).
Organisers are predicting another scorcher for today’s second Sydney show—the festival’s 100th—and are advising any peeps venturing out to the vibe-fest to make H2O their friend. Sounds like pretty good advice to us.
