It's the day of the royal wedding, and the world is in celebratory mode. And as the countdown continues until the ceremony, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has revealed what the newlyweds will receive from Australia as the nation's official wedding gift.
9News reported a few days back that there will be two components to the gift. The first, a sizeable donation to a charity close to the couple's hearts, and the second, something "very Australian and appeals to their interests."
In an Instagram post just a few hours before the royal wedding, the PM revealed that along with a donation to Invictus, there will be two akubras waiting for the newlyweds when they visit Australia for the Invictus Games.
Australia's wedding gift to Prince William and Kate Middleton, who wed in 2011, was a $25,000 donation to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
