You heard right! The official site of the Prince of Wales has announced that Prince William will be visiting Australia and New Zealand on behalf of the Queen following the natural disasters that have devastated both countries over the past few months. The statement says, “The Prince will meet those affected by the recent disasters as well as meeting members of the emergency and other support services.” And it’s happening this month! His current itinerary says he’ll be first visit Christchurch from 17-18 March, where he’ll attend a National Memorial Service on the 18th. Then he’ll arrive in Australia on Saturday 19 March and spend two days in Queensland before flying to north-west Victoria on 21 March. (No word about a Sydney stop.)
We’re super-excited to be welcoming William back to our shores after his last visit in January 2010 (it was his first time here). And while the press release has made no mention of fiancée Kate Middleton accompanying him, we’ve got our fingers crossed she can join him on the trip! The latest stop on their official tour was in Northern Ireland, where the engaged couple endeared themselves to the people by flipping pancakes for Shrove Tuesday.
