Do You Want to See All of the Dishes on MasterChef?

It’s top 12 time on MasterChef and if last night’s challenge was any indication, the contestants have to be able to put a decent dish up no matter what the conditions are. Situated at the Matt Moran’s family farm in the Central Tablelands, the amateur chefs were asked to prepare a banquet for 200 guests, with only one protein on the menu: lamb. Contestants had their hands full with deboning and separating the carcasses — Ellie in particular seemed to struggle with the task — while they had to battle elements like wind and rain as they cooked over open fires.

But let’s move on from the lamb challenge to Sunday night episodes in general. MasterChef fans seem to be disappointed that due to editing and time constraints, only the dishes of the top and bottom three contestants are shown on TV. It’s not hard to work out who’s safe from elimination — from last night I knew from early on that Kumar, Kate, Dani, Alana and Mat were out of harm’s way (Billy won; bottom three are Ellie, Danielle and Peter). Do you wish we got to see all of the contestants’ dishes or are you happy with a tightly-edited one-hour program that gives us the highlights and low points?
