Sam Frost Is Selling Her Engagement Ring With a Little Help From Some Friends
When Sam Frost was dumped by Blake Garvey just weeks after he proposed to her for the finale of The Bachelor 2014, one question that kept coming up (after "What happened?") was: what's going to happen to the ring? For the proposal, Blake got down on one knee in South Africa with a diamond ring designed by jeweller Ben Bunda reportedly worth $58,000, and in the aftermath of the split, Network Ten and production company Shine Australia gave the ring to Sam.
We spoke to Sam in late November last year, and when we asked her about her plans for the ring, she told us, "I have no idea what I'm even going to do with it. I haven't really thought about it. Shine have given me the ring, and I honestly don't even want to think about it. I just need to move forward and figure it out, and eventually I'll suss out what I want to do. At the moment it's just hidden at the back of my cupboard, and I don't really look at it or think about it often."
Since then, Sam has started her own blog, and in a Jan. 14 post she wrote about her plans for the sparkler. In an entry titled 'It Wasn't Even April Fools Day,' Sam wrote:
Remember the time that guy pulled a really hilarious prank on me?
It's time to get this thing out of my life because as much as I love good jokes, this is one I'd rather forget
The only problem is, I really have no idea where to start?
Sam said that aside from paying off her credit card and making "a donation to the Bondi parking inspectors," she is more than happy to give the money to charity — "It'll be the closest I will ever get to feeling like Oprah." But the first step is actually selling the ring.
In her blog post, Sam wrote about how she had no idea how to go about selling an engagement ring, and now Nova FM's Fitzy and Wippa have offered to help. They are going to assist with auctioning the ring, posting on their Instagram page, "Fitzy worked in a jewellery store once so we are going to help Sam Frost (@fro01) sell the engagement ring from #TheBachelorAu - watch this space for times and dates to view the ring."
While she'll soon part with the most expensive souvenir from her time on The Bachelor, Sam, who is currently dating Sydney Swans player Dane Rampe, has been more than happy to offer her advice to girls applying for the next series. She tweeted, "I've been getting emails from girls wanting tips for their upcoming audition for Bachie S3. You don't need tips or tricks, just be yourself."
