Who Has Selena Gomez Dated? These Are the Lucky Guys She's Been Romantically Linked To

Selena Gomez has undoubtedly secured her spot as a Hollywood luminary. Between acting, making music, launching a beauty line, and producing onscreen projects, the 28-year-old star has broadened her impact since bursting onto the scene during her Disney Channel days. While she’s continued to develop her career, Selena has maintained a relatively private love life – not counting her more public relationships with Justin Bieber and The Weeknd, of course. Over the years, the “Rare” singer has been linked to the likes of Charlie Puth, Nick Jonas, Orlando Bloom, and Niall Horan. Some speculations seem to be valid, but others are clearly less substantiated. Either way, she certainly keeps us on our toes when it comes to her relationships. Keep reading to take a look back at Selena’s rumored and confirmed romances.

Nick Jonas

Selena and Nick briefly dated for a few months in 2008, sending Jonas Brothers fans into a frenzy. Selena opened up about their romance in 2015, saying it was “like puppy love, you know, it was very sweet.” In January 2018, the two hilariously reminisced on an awkward Central Park date from their time as a couple.

Taylor Lautner

Selena and Taylor met in Vancouver in 2009 while she was filming Ramona and Beezus and he was shooting Twilight: New Moon. Unfortunately, their young love didn’t last long. In the September 2009 issue of Seventeen, Selena confirmed their breakup, citing their lifestyles as the cause. “We would go out to lunch and dinner, but I knew he had paparazzi following him, and I had paparazzi following me,” she said. “People were getting a little crazy about us.” Although things didn’t work out between them, Selena noted: “He is so sweet. Taylor has made me so happy. I didn’t know I could be that happy.”

David Henrie

David played Selena’s TV brother on Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, and the two remained good friends after the show ended in 2012. They reportedly went on a date back in 2014, but it appears nothing ever came of it. In 2017, Selena attended David’s wedding where he tied the knot with model Maria Cahill, with whom he shares a daughter named Pia and is expecting a second child. Selena and David reunited again in August of this year to promote their film, This Is the Year, which David directed and Selena produced.

Justin Bieber

Selena and Justin had a five-year roller-coaster romance filled with ups and downs, which seemed to have definitively ended in 2015. Things got rocky in 2017 when Selena started dating The Weeknd, but she and Justin got back together at the end of that year, only to split again in March 2018. Three months after their official breakup, Justin rekindled his relationship with his now-wife, Hailey Baldwin.

In 2019, after Justin and Hailey’s second wedding in South Carolina, Selena unveiled her song “Lose You to Love You,” which seemed like a farewell to Justin. Chatter about their relationship revved up again in early September when Justin lip-synced Selena’s name in Drake’s music video for “Popstar,” but neither artists have commented on it.

Zedd

Selena and Zedd briefly dated in early 2015, despite Diplo’s claims that the whole thing was a publicity stunt. Selena briefly spoke about their romance in July 2015, telling New England radio show The Edge Afternoons, “I adore Anton [Zedd] a lot, and I definitely had a thing with him, which was nice.”

Charlie Puth

Charlie and Selena first met at the 2015 MTV VMAs. “I just went up to her and started talking to her,” Charlie told US Weekly. The duo later recorded a song – “We Don’t Talk Anymore” – for his 2016 debut album, Nine Track Mind. In a 2018 interview with Billboard, Charlie spoke about his relationship with Selena, saying: “I don’t kiss and tell, but the only way a song like [‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’] can come across as real is if there’s something else going on behind the scenes. And that’s what was happening [with Gomez]. Very short-lived, very small, but very impactful. And it really messed me up. I’m trying to put this the best way possible: It wasn’t like I was the only person on her mind. And I think I knew that going in – what I was getting myself into.”

Shortly after Billboard published the piece, a source told People that Selena and Charlie “never dated.” So, basically, the jury’s still out on what happened between them.

Niall Horan

Niall and his One Direction bandmates presented Selena with the award for best pop video at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. Niall and Selena reportedly started cozying up to each other sometime after. There were reportedly “hugging and kissing” at Jenna Dewan’s 35th birthday party in December 2015, and that same month, they stepped out together in London. They were linked again in late 2019, but Niall claimed in December of that year that he was “very much single.”

Orlando Bloom

Selena and Orlando were photographed together in 2014, and though nothing was confirmed back then, the pair were said to have cozied up in Las Vegas at Selena’s Revival tour launch party in 2016. After rumors of their encounter in Las Vegas hit the internet, Orlando’s then-girlfriend and now-fiancée, Katy Perry – with whom he shares a newborn daughter named Daisy – tweeted, “Instead of giving energy & eyeballs to dumb conspiracy 🚮 check out how C👁👁L this is” with a video of Orlando’s charitable work in Ukraine. Selena liked the tweet, so it appeared that it was all a misunderstanding.

The Weeknd

In January 2017, the “Blinding Lights” singer and Selena were caught kissing in Los Angeles. Three months later, the pair went official by posting photos of each other on Instagram. They made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala and even got a puppy together.

However, after dating for 10 months, Selena and The Weeknd called their relationship quits. It is said the two broke up due to distance and their busy schedules. However, The Weeknd’s lyrics in his 2018 hit “Call Out My Name” had fans wondering if their split had anything to do with Selena’s reconciliation with ex Justin Bieber. We might not ever know the answer to that, but Selena and The Weeknd seem to be on good terms. In July of this year, The Weeknd dropped the music video for his song “Snowchild” on Selena’s birthday, and the actress praised the track on her Instagram story.
