The trailer for Martin Scorsese's Silence — a film over two decades in the making — is gorgeous, tense, and already stirring up Oscar buzz. Based on Shusaku Endo's critically acclaimed novel, the film tells the story of two Portuguese Jesuits (Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver) on a mission to rescue their mentor (Liam Neeson) from Japan at a time when the country outlawed Christianity and forbid the presence of missionaries. If neither Garfield nor Driver, Neeson nor Scorsese picks up a trophy come award season, we'll be incredibly surprised. See the actors in all their heavily bearded glory when it hits cinemas on Dec. 22.
