After weeks of speculation, Love Island Australia 2018's Tayla Damir and Dom Thomas have confirmed the sad news of their break up. Taking to their joint YouTube channel, where they had previously posted light-hearted challenge videos, the pair revealed they are simply "in different parts and directions in our lives."
"There's no story behind it, there's no drama," said Tayla, "we hope everyone can respect our privacy and just respect that we're still fine and we're still mates."
The former couple added that they were aware fans had grown suspicious about the status of their relationship after changes in social media activity, but that they needed to process the decision themselves before announcing it publicly.
Although they met on the first season of the show, Tayla and Dom did not become romantically involved until several months after filming ended. Their relationship came after Tayla won the competition with Grant Crapp, before quickly splitting with him post-show amid allegations he had secretly had a partner on the outside world throughout filming.
Their split comes a couple of months after another former Love Island couple, Millie Fuller and Mark O'Dare, also called it quits. Fortunately for fans of the show not all hope is lost, as third place finishers Amelia Marni and Josh Moss still appear to be going strong.
