Tina Arena is going back to where it all started: Young Talent Time! The Australian singer has been announced as one of the judges and mentors for the new show when it returns to Network Ten in 2012. She joined the original YTT as a 7-year-old in 1974, where she was part of the young cast alongside Dannii Minogue. David Mott, Ten’s Chief Programming Officer, said in a statement, “We couldn’t be more pleased to have Tina Arena on YTT. She has inspired and entertained generations of fans and her advice and guidance for the contestants and cast will be invaluable. She is a born entertainer who is passionate about fostering young talent. What more could we ask for.” Read on for what Tina had to say about joining the show.
Tina, who had previously expressed that she wasn’t a fan of talent shows with a judging component, is also excited to be returning to her roots, saying, “I am really excited to be coming back and being involved in the re-launch of Young Talent Time. It is the ‘original’ TV talent show format — it’s unique and iconic but it’s also typically Australian.” Tina also told the Sunday Telegraph, “There was such purity in that show and there’s not a lot of purity left on TV these days.” The Paris-based performer will be back in Australia before Christmas to start work on the show. A second judge/mentor will be announced at a later date. Are you looking forward to Tina on YTT?
