UPDATE: According to TV Tonight, Jack co-wrote “Yes I Am” with former Australian Idol vocal coach Erina Clarke and A2. It’s unclear how much Jack wrote himself.
From his first jaw-dropping audition on Australia’s Got Talent and then for his two performances that followed, Jack Vidgen has impressed judges, critics and the Australian public with an outstanding voice that belies his 14 years, belting out chart-topping hits from Whitney Houston, Dreamgirls and Adele. So how did Jack top three massive performances for the AGT grand final last night? With a song he wrote himself! Titled “Yes I Am,” it begins softly with the lyrics, “Can’t believe this is happening, I wanna shout it to the world,” (fitting for the schoolboy) and builds to a chorus-supported climax that could easily come from any of the artists he’s covered on the show. We’ve been following Jack’s progress since the beginning, and even if he doesn’t take out the $250,000 prize when the winner is announced next week, he can still look forward to a bright future because his talent is too good to not be shared.
