Video of Jane Lynch Singing and Dancing in 2011 Emmy Awards Musical Opening Number

Watch Jane Lynch's Musical Opening Number For the Emmys

The opening number of an awards show is one of the things most people look forward to. This year’s Emmy Awards host Jane Lynch tapped into her musical Glee background to bring together lots of your favourite shows in one big song-and-dance number. After learning that all the shows are housed in one building, she moves between the rooms and we get cameos from the casts of The Big Bang Theory, Mad Men and more. Jane also sings about how things only occur in the wonderful world of TV — such as how “high school students look roughly 24” and how “patients are cured in an hour by doctors who work once a week.” We’ve heard it all before — there are only so many ways you can parody TV! — but Jane definitely brought a new energy to the segment.
