The Contenders:Robert Downey Jr, Sherlock Holmes vs Daniel Day-Lewis, Nine
The Lowdown: The tri-named actors are no strangers to the Globes. First nominated in 1990, this is Daniel's sixth nod, which included a victory in 2008 for his lead role in the dramatic There Will Be Blood. While Robert has been twice recognised; firstly in 1994 as part of Short Cut's Best Ensemble cast and again in 2001 for his stint on Ally McBeal.
