Winners & Losers Premieres Tonight — Will You Be Watching?

Following on from such a successful Packed to the Rafters season last year that saw fans mourn the loss of one of their favourite characters, Mel Rafter, Channel Seven has rested the current season after only six episodes (last week’s “finale” saw Jessica Marais’ character Rachel pack up and head overseas for a work opportunity, but when it was first reported that she was leaving the show it was believed she’d still be seen on screens in June). Ready to fill the Rafters void is the new, much-promoted show Winners & Losers, which sees four high school friends (they were the losers at school) meet up at a reunion, show up the school’s popular girls and then go on to win a massive lottery that changes their lives. It’s created by the same team behind Rafters and even features some of the guest stars in leading roles, such as Melanie Vallejo, who told The Sun-Herald, “We’re a different kind of show but I think we have the same kind of heart as Rafters has and I think that’s what will resonate with people, at least I hope so.” Winners & Losers premieres tonight at 8:30 p.m. on Channel Seven — will you be tuning in for the first episode?
