Following accusations of sexual assault from multiple women, actor Chris Noth has been cut from the finale of Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That… in which his late character Mr Big was due to make an appearance in a flashback.

The character of Mr Big/John James Preston was killed off via a heart attack in the first episode of the reboot, leaving Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) widowed and navigating single life in New York once more, this time in her 50s.

During the And Just Like That… finale, viewers see Carrie travelling to Paris to scatter her late husband’s ashes from the famed Pont des Arts, where the two shared a romantic moment in the series finale of the Sex and the City series— when Big finally told her she was the one after years of being emotionally unavailable.

The scene in And Just Like That… was said to have featured a moment where Big appears next to her, but the show’s producers decided, understandably, to have the scene continue without the cameo from Noth.

Following the allegations against Noth, Parker and her co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis issued a statement saying “We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth. We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.”

The first two women to accuse Noth of sexual assault approached The Hollywood Reporter with their stories separately, with the publication releasing their stories in December 2021, after conducting an investigation into their claims.

Each of the alleged victims said that the promotion of the new series caused painful memories of incidents they allege took place in Los Angeles in 2004 and New York in 2015 to resurface. Both women described meeting Noth and being charmed by his charisma, only to find themselves in unwanted situations with the actor later. They both also described being raped by Noth from behind whilst in front of a mirror — a key detail that could prove damning for the actor should the charges be pressed against him.

A third woman also has accused Noth of sexual assault, alleging the incident took place in New York in 2010, when she was 18 and working as a hostess and singer at a Manhattan restaurant.

“Ava” (name changed for anonymity) said that the actor came to the restaurant multiple times while intoxicated and groped her on one such occasion. He then followed her into the manager’s office where she was retrieving her wages and proceeded to penetrate her against her will.

Meanwhile, actor Zoe Lister-Jones, who worked with Noth on the set of Law & Order when she was in her twenties, has shared her own story on Instagram, accusing the actor of behaving inappropriately to both herself and female promoter at a New York City nightclub he owned.

Noth has denied the allegations, telling THR in a statement, “The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false. These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago — no always means no — that is a line I did not cross.

“The encounters were consensual. It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”

Noth has not only been cut from the finale of the reboot but has also been dropped by his agent and fired from the set of his CBS drama The Equalizer.
