Love Life on Stan, starring Anna Kendrick, premieres today! The first trailer for Anna Kendrick's new rom-com TV show, Love Life, dropped in late April, and it already seems super relatable.
Anna plays Darby, a single woman in New York City, who seems to be a magnet for dating/romantic catastrophes — like when, as we see in the trailer, she unwittingly runs into her ex while wearing a pair of crocs. It's a moment that we all could find ourselves in: who hasn't unfollowed a pivotal ex on social media and then bumped into them at the least opportune moment? A single Darby later explains, "I'm just having a small life panic," before saying, "I just want to be the kind of woman who knows what she wants and she's not afraid to go after it." She even informs a man that she doesn't owe him anything just because she had sex with him: "I decide who I sleep with and who I love." We're feeling extremely seen right now.
Love Life is Anna's first starring role in a full-length scripted show, so we've got to assume she saw something in this romantic comedy anthology series to pull her to television. Each season will follow a different person's romantic life, with a different relationship featuring in every episode, revealing the ways our intimate connections inform our identities, and all the pitfalls in between. It promises to chart her journey from first love to lasting love, even if that involves a stint on Match.com.
Anna's joined on the series, created and directed by Sam Boyd (In a Relationship), by Zoë Chao (Downhill), Peter Vack (Someone Great), Sasha Compere (Miracle Workers) and Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread). She's also an executive producer, alongside Bridesmaids director Paul Feig and Someone Great's Dan Magnante.
