Demi Lovato is setting the record straight about the status of her friendship with Selena Gomez. Even though they were tight during their Disney days, the two are no longer close. The “I Love Me” singer revealed that she doesn’t talk to Selena anymore in a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

“I will always have love for her, and I wish everybody nothing but the best.”

After Demi was asked about Selena’s supportive Instagram post following her comeback Grammys performance in January, Demi replied, “When you grow up with somebody, you’re always going to have love for them. But I’m not friends with her, so it felt . . . I will always have love for her, and I wish everybody nothing but the best.”

Demi and Selena first met on the set of Barney & Friends in 2001 when they were just 7 years old. They developed a close friendship after moving on up to the Disney Channel; Selena starred on Wizards of Waverly Place, while Demi was on Sonny With a Chance. They also shared the small screen on Disney’s Princess Protection Program. In 2010, however, there were rumors of a falling out between the two, but they briefly reconciled in 2011 before things got complicated again in 2014. Since then, their friendship hasn’t been the same, though, they do seem to respect one another and are supportive of each other’s music. Take a look back at the way they were ahead.
