Survivor’s Simon Opens Up About the Tiny Detail We Couldn’t See That Sent Him Home

Simon’s luck has finally run out.

In last night’s episode of Australian Survivor: Heroes vs Villains, the tradie who fought a hard game full of twists and turns had his torch snuffed out by Jonathan. But his eventual downfall was at the mercy of a tiny detail us viewers missed at home.

Speaking to POPSUGAR Australia, Simon Mee told us that his fate hung on the immunity challenge – a win that was integral to see him survive another week against George’s rock-solid alliance.

“That (challenge) was mine to lose,” he said. “I just got unlucky with the draw of the rocks for position.”

The contestants were tasked with placing blocks on a suspended circular track to make a perfect domino motion. If any blocks fell they had to start again. As the challenge progressed it was neck and neck between Simon and Matt Sharp.

When viewers were watching they could see that Matt finished ahead of Simon with his blocks falling in synchronicity ultimately winning him the coveted immunity necklace. In the moment, it looked like speed and precision were the determining factors but, according to Simon, his track gave him a major impediment.

“My track, it wasn’t smooth and in this one section it wasn’t sanded and it had some bumps,” said Simon.

Just when he needed smooth sailing, he was handed rough seas, so to speak. Ah, the perils of Survivor, hey?

“It just wasn’t my day.”

Without the immunity under his belt, he was in the crosshairs of George and his cohort. After a split vote between Simon and Nina, it was Simon’s turn to say goodbye after a revote.

And thus Simon’s journey on Australian Survivor: Heroes Vs Villains draws to a close. At least he topped his previous performance of going home on Australian Survivor: Brains Vs Brawns with two idols in his pocket!
