Gomez and Morticia Addams in The Addams Family animated movie.

Animated movies aren’t just for kids and these movies on Prime Video prove it.

There are picks here for the whole family — young kids, older kids, teens and adults alike — ranging from laugh-a-minute marathons to beloved classics that have stood the test of time.

To speed the selection process up on your next family movie night, we’ve rounded up the best animated movies that are streaming right now. The whole family is sure to have fun with this selection!

Shrek

The sheer volume of Shrek meme pages and tribute events are a good indication of the continued popularity of this 2001 classic starring Mike Myers, as the grumpy green ogre Shrek, Eddie Murphy, as the loudmouthed Donkey, and Cameron Diaz, as the feisty Princess Fiona. Top tip: Shrek 2 is also streaming on Prime Video.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Flint, an aspiring mad inventor, voiced by Bill Hader, creates a device that turns water into food, transforming his sleepy town into a foodie tourist destination that rains burgers, doughnuts, pancakes, and more. As with all mad inventions, the device malfunctions and starts creating mutant foods and spaghetti tornados, inspiring Flint to save the day and restore the town’s balanced diet.

Madagascar

A classic! After Marty the zebra, Alex the lion, Melman the giraffe, and Gloria the hippopotamus attempt to escape their swish New York zoo, they end up in Madagascar where they’re taken in by a pack of lemurs, led by King Julien XIII. Life in the wild is not quite what some of our heroes expected though, especially for Alex, who soon finds his predator instincts surfacing.

Spirit Untamed

Horse girlies unite! The next chapter in the beloved franchise, Spirit Untamed, follows a young girl named Fortuna “Lucky” Prescott who forms a special bond with a mustang, the son of Spirit and Rain from the original movie. Together with her friends, Lucky helps Spirit save his herd from money-hungry horse wranglers and reconnects to her mother’s legacy as a trick rider.

Sing

Prime Video has Sing and Sing 2, so you can settle in for a movie musical marathon! The first movie focuses on a koala named Buster who hosts a singing competition to save his theatre from closing. Little surprise here, but the soundtracks for these movies are fantastic, featuring songs by Jennifer Hudson, Beyoncé, Cyndi Lauper, Major Lazer and Carly Rae Jepsen, with an original song by Stevie Wonder and Ariana Grande that was nominated for a Golden Globe.

The Boss Baby

This movie shouldn’t work, but it does. Alec Baldwin voices a baby who cries and crawls around adults, but wears a suit and tie and carries a briefcase when he’s alone. The premise is very silly, but once you lean into it you’ll find a delightful movie about the importance of family in all shapes and forms.

The Addams Family

This animated take on the Addams family reminds us why we adore them. After being driven out of their home by small-minded villagers, Morticia and Gomez move the family to New Jersey. (Because it’s a city “no one would be caught dead in”.) Here they live a happy life in an abandoned asylum until a reality TV host attempts to chase them out of town so she can turn it into the perfect planned community.
