Mourning the Exit of Regé-Jean Page? The New Bridgerton Season Two Cast Might Ease the Pain

Netflix

Lady Whistledown is surely excited to announce this news — Bridgerton is getting some new faces.

The hugely popular historical drama series has added Charithra Chandran, Shelley Conn, Calam Lynch, and Rupert Young to its cast for season two, in addition to Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley and returning star Phoebe Dynevor.

Chandran will play Edwina Sharma, a kind-natured and naive young woman who has been taught by her older sister Kate to be the perfect debutante.

Conn will play Mary Sharma whose marriage once embroiled her and her family in scandal. Mary is once again forced into that spotlight as she returns to London with her daughters.

Lynch will appear as Theo Sharpe, a hardworking printer’s assistant who is deeply intellectual and an advocate for the rights of everyone.

And Young will play Jack — the newest member of the ton with a connection to one of its most notable families.

Sadly, the newcomers will be entering a cast that no longer includes heartthrob Regé-Jean Page, as the actor will not be returning to the series as previously announced by Lady Whistledown on the official Bridgerton Instagram account.

Page was only ever intended to appear in the first season of the Shondaland produced show, telling Variety that the short-term commitment was one of the things that appealed to him about the role of Simon Bassett.
