Britney Spears is currently under investigation after it was alleged she struck an employee this week.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office told E! News that the “dispute” allegedly took place at the singer’s home on Monday, August 16 around 10am local time.

It is believed Britney slapped a phone out of the employee’s hands after “confronting her” when she returned from a visit to the vet.

According to the employee, the 39-year-old “hit her hand”, but thankfully, she “was not hurt”.

Authorities were called to Britney’s home but upon their arrival, the employee had left and gone to the local police station in Thousand Oaks, California to report the incident.

Deputies attempted to get in touch with Britney, but she “wouldn’t speak with them”, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The results of the investigation will be sent to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, which would then determine whether the star will be charged with misdemeanour battery.

Britney’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart released a statement to NBC News, saying the claim was “sensational tabloid fodder.”

Rosengart said it is “nothing more than an overblown alleged misdemeanour involving a β€˜he said she said’ about a cell phone, with no striking and obviously no injury whatsoever,” he wrote. “Anyone can make an accusation. This should have been closed immediately.”
