King Charles III’s coronation is the first British coronation ceremony in seven decades, so of course there were some celebrities in attendance, namely Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, who were both photographed at London’s Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6. The “American Idol” judges are actually set to perform in the coronation concert on Sunday on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The coronation ceremony also marks a monumental moment for Charles’s wife Camilla Parker Bowles, who became Queen Consort in line with the late Queen Elizabeth II’s wishes during the May 6 event. Meanwhile, additional members of the king’s family, including his sons Prince William and Prince Harry, were in attendance, as well as William’s wife, Kate Middleton, and their three children: 9-year-old Prince George, 7-year-old Princess Charlotte, and 4-year-old Prince Louis. The children all had important roles in the ceremony, with George serving as a page of honor.

The last British monarch to be crowned was Charles’s mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, who took her seat on the throne in 1953.
