The Biggest Celebrity Breakups of 2022
2022 has seen its fair share of celebrity breakups. Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet kicked off the year by announcing their split in January after 12 years together. Meanwhile, without much warning, Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson’s whirlwind relationship came to a close after nine months over the summer, with some reports blaming long distance for the split. Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady also announced that their 13-year relationship had reached its end in October following months of rumors about marital difficulties.
Some relationships ended amicably, while others seemed more one-sided and dramatic, but ultimately, a lot of celebrity couples we were hoping would last forever wound up not being meant to be. Of course, the year wasn’t all tragedy in the romance department. 2022 also saw some celebrity relationships blossom – from Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian’s opulent Italian wedding to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s reunion after 20 years apart, this was a year of both love and loss.
Ahead, relive some of the most memorable celebrity breakups of 2022.
Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet

“We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times,” Momoa wrote in a Jan. 12 Instagram post. “A revolution is unfolding ~and our family is of no exception . . . feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring. And so~ We share our Family news~ That we are parting ways in marriage. We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy ~ But so that~ as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.”
Since their split, Momoa has been linked to Eiza González.
Ali Wong and Justin Hakuta
Wong and Hakuta split after eight years of marriage in April. They met at a wedding in 2010 and were married in 2014. They share two children, Mari and Nikki, born in 2015 and 2017, respectively. A rep confirmed the news of their split to People, saying, “It’s amicable and they will continue to coparent lovingly.”
Since their divorce, Wong was briefly linked to Bill Hader, though their rumored relationship has not been confirmed.

But after 28 years of marriage, Tish filed for divorce from Billy Ray in April.
The couple addressed their separation in a joint statement shared with People. “It is after 30 years, five amazing children and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways – not with sadness, but with love in our hearts,” it read. “. . . We have not come to this decision lightly or quickly but with so much going on in the world, we wanted to provide some clarity and closure, so we can remain focused on what is important. With Love and Hope . . . Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus.” This is the third time the pair have filed for divorce, though they were able to reconcile the previous two times.
Michael B. Jordan and Lori Harvey

In a January cover story with POPSUGAR, Harvey offered some words of wisdom about love. “Be friends first,” she said. “You know how sometimes you fight with your siblings and, of course, you love them, but you’re like, ‘I don’t even like you right now’? And we have these beautiful kids together, and there are a lot of things that really work about our relationship . . . I really wanted to be able to see things clearly before I spoke publicly about [the separation], and I do see so clearly now how grateful I am that I have kids with him and that he is the person I get to parent my kids with.” The pair share two children, 14-year-old Birdie Leigh and 9-year-old Cricket Pearl.

The “Don’t Worry Darling” star confirmed their split in August, telling Harper’s Bazaar that they had broken up earlier this year.
“We’ve been trying to do this separation without the world knowing, because it’s been a relationship that everybody has an opinion on,” Pugh told the outlet. “We just felt something like this would really do us the benefit of not having millions of people telling us how happy they are that we’re not together. So we’ve done that. I automatically get a lumpy throat when I talk about it.”
Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone
DiCaprio and Morrone were first spotted together in 2017, per Us Weekly. Their relationship drew some criticism due to the 22-year age gap between them, however, the pair reportedly broke up in August after over four years together.

“This is really hard to talk about personally, especially as this is the first time I’ve ever addressed this situation in an interview,” the musician told Elle. “I’ve remained quiet and just tried to process it all. Um, and yeah, it’s hard to talk about it, especially because I’m still going through it, and because I’m in the public eye and because our separation is not like a regular separation. And so it’s been tough not only for me, but also for my kids. Incredibly difficult. I have paparazzi camping outside, in front of my house, 24/7.”
Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict
Mowry and Hardrict first met on a movie set in 1999, according to Us Weekly. They were married in 2008 and share two children, Cree and Cairo, who were born in 2011 and 2018, respectively.

She gave Entertainment Tonight an update on how she was doing in October. “I have to be honest with you, I am so overwhelmed by the love and support I’ve received,” she said. “I’m so grateful of the community and the fans that I have. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve.”
Bündchen also shared a post about the breakup. “The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always,” she wrote. “I kindly ask that our privacy be respected during this sensitive time.”
Since the split, Bündchen was spotted with jujitsu instructor Joaquim Valente, per Page Six, though their relationship hasn’t been confirmed, and friends of Bündchen reportedly denied rumors of a romance.
Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles
Wilde and Styles connected on the set of their film “Don’t Worry Darling” and soon began a low-key romance.
They were first spotted holding hands at a wedding in January 2021 shortly after filming wrapped, but their relationship grew extremely high profile in light of drama surrounding “Don’t Worry Darling” and rumors of Wilde’s difficulties with her ex, Jason Sudeikis. She and Sudeikis share two kids, 8-year-old Otis Alexander and 6-year-old Daisy Josephine.
They reportedly decided to take a break in November, with a source telling People that Styles is “still touring and is now going abroad” while Wilde “is focusing on her kids and her work in LA. It’s a very amicable decision.”
