It didn’t take long for fans of Married at First Sight to fall in love with Chris Jensen, even if his wife Jaimie Gardener never quite warmed up to him.

Now, in very sad news it seems that the spunky dad of two has a bit of a troubled background and was allegedly arrested for drug trafficking before entering the show.

According to The Courier Mail, Jensen is facing one count of trafficking dangerous drugs and is scheduled to go before a judge in Brisbane’s Supreme Court on April 23.

The charges were confirmed by the Queensland Courts and the Department of Justice and Attorney-General to Daily Mail Australia, with Jensen allegedly having been arrested along with three other people who are accused of similar charges.

Jenson is also said to be facing single charges of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime, possessing used utensils or pipes and two counts of possessing property suspected of being proceeds of an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act.

Jaimie and Chris had one of the shortest marriages in MAFS history, with the couple being completely mismatched from the start. While Chris tried his best to focus on the positives of the pairing, Jaimie was not having a bar of it. The two finally decided to leave the experiment early after a blowup that ensued after Jaimie apparently told Chris to “fake it” for one more week.

Neither Jensen, nor Channel 9 have so far responded to the drug trafficking claims, but fans are already calling out for stricter background checks of the MAFS participants.
