Fantasy role-playing is getting the big-screen treatment in “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.” The first trailer for the highly anticipated film, based on Hasbro’s Dungeons & Dragons game and described as a “hilarious, action-packed adventure,” was unveiled on July 21 during the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con. The annual conference played footage from the movie on Thursday, featuring Chris Pine, Regé-Jean Page, Michelle Rodriguez, and more famous faces from the star-studded feature.

The two-minute-and-15-second clip – filled with fire-spitting dragons, dangerous creatures, and unknown evil – is just a small glimpse of what viewers can expect when the movie premieres next year. Though it appears to be a spellbinding film with danger at every turn, Pine, during a Comic-Con panel, said it has a lighthearted tone and draws inspiration from “Game of Thrones,” “The Princess Bride,” “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” and “The Goonies,” Variety reported.
