In December 2020, reining MasterChef champion, Emilia Jackson, announced that she was cooking up a mini chef of her own with partner Craig Gersbach.
In a sweet post on Instagram, the 32-year-old shared a mirror selfie, captioning the post: “Excuse the toilet in the background but this baby is popping today.. Sous chef coming in June ❤️🥰😍”
Unbeknown to us, Jackson had also made the very special announcement while filming the 2021 season of MasterChef, telling the brand-new 24 contestants that she had a mini-choux in the oven.
“I’ve been pretty busy,” Jackson told judges Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo.
“I’ve spent the last three months sort of vomiting my guts up,” she said before adding: “Okay, as reigning queen, I thought it was best I produce an heir.”
“So there’s a mini choux in the oven?” Zonfrillo asked, to which the pastry chef responded: “Before one of you guys took my title, I thought I’d make a little princess.” A little girl! How gorgeous.
During her appearance on the hit TV series, contestants were tasked with using one or more ingredients from Jackson’s time on the series including saltbush, silverbeet, dark chocolate, cherries, potatoes, pistachio nuts, Sichuan peppercorns, quail, and barramundi. They then had 75 minutes to complete the dish with an immunity pin up for grabs.
Jackson took home the title of MasterChef 2021, beating out Laura Sharrad in the grand finale.
