Oprah, Miley Cyrus, and More Join #Graduation2020 Ceremony

Calling the Class of 2020! Mark Your Calendars For This Star-Studded Graduation Ceremony

Stars are coming together to celebrate the class of 2020. In response to the news that traditional commencement ceremonies in the US had to be cancelled or indefinitely postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Facebook and Instagram enlisted Oprah Winfrey, Awkwafina, Jennifer Garner, Lil Nas X, Simone Biles, Miley Cyrus, and more for a virtual #Graduation2020 event.

Coming to Facebook Watch on May 15 at 4 a.m. AEST, the ceremony will be helmed by Oprah — of course — who will deliver the commencement address. The other aforementioned stars will share speeches and words of advice for graduating students, while Miley will perform her uplifting hit "The Climb." Colleges and high schools across the US will be mentioned by name, and various deans and principals will also prepare messages to be shared during the stream.

In addition to the virtual ceremony, Facebook is also launching special features to make the milestone still feel festive despite the difficult circumstances. For example, new music stickers on Facebook and Instagram Stories will curate relevant graduation songs, and Instagram will soon kick off a custom #Graduation2020 hashtag hub.
