It seems like Gigi Hadid has found herself in a bit of trouble during her recent trip to the Cayman Islands. It’s believed the model landed at the Owen Roberts International Airport in George Town on July 10, where authorities arrested her for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

According to TMZ, customs officials conducted a routine search of Gigi’s luggage, and that’s when things took an unexpected twist. A “small amount of weed and smoking utensils” were discovered as her bags went through the scanner. It didn’t take long for the authorities to step in and take action.

The mother-of-one and a friend were “arrested on charges of importation of marijuana and importation of utensils to smoke the cannabis,” the outlet claimed.

The Model Pleaded Guilty in Court

It seemed like a dark cloud was hanging over her vacation plans, but as more details emerged, the situation became less black and white.

Reports later surfaced that the drugs found were for personal use only.

After her arrest, Gigi was taken to the Royal Cayman Islands Detention Centre, where she wasted no time arranging for bail. Two days later, on July 12, she appeared in court alongside her companion. Both pleaded guilty, resulting in a $1,000 fine. Thankfully for Gigi, the charges didn’t result in a conviction on their records.

The star’s rep told the E! Online: “Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a medical license.

“It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”
