Will Alethea Boon Spark as Elektra in the Reboot of “Gladiators”?

Elektra is in Gladiators
Network 10

It’s been over a decade since the original “Gladiators” graced our televisions. For too long, we’ve been deprived of people jousting atop of a suspension bridge. However, in 2024, all that’s going to change.

For those unfamiliar, “Gladiators” was an iconic reality TV competition that originally ran from 1995 until 1996. In each episode of this series, a bunch of Aussies competed in a gauntlet of physical challenges. It featured wrestling matches, obstacle course races, and climbs to the top of a pyramid. All of this was done in the name of “Gladiator” glory.

In 2024, a whack of these iconic challenges are coming back. However, the cast is completely new. For instance, Kimberley Joseph, Mike Hammond, and Aaron Pedersen are no longer hosting this series. They have been replaced by the netball icon Liz Ellis and Beau Ryan.

Another change has also come to the character of Elektra. Once performed by Roz Forsyth, the new Elektra will be played by Alethea Boon.

So, does Alethea have the electricity to keep the Elektra spark alive? Here’s everything we know about this warrior.

Who Is the Gladiator Elektra?

In this season of “Gladiators”, Elektra is portrayed by the Fijian-New Zealand athlete Alethea Boon. Alethea was born in the Fijian capital of Suva and then grew up in Auckland, New Zealand.

Best known for representing New Zealand in artistic gymnastics at both the 1998 and 2002 Commonwealth Games, she also competed in weightlifting at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Since then, Alethea has amassed an impressive following on Instagram for lifting weights.

As Elektra, Alethea is a silent but deadly Gladiator. She plans to bring short bursts of electricity into the Arena that will knock her opponents down to the floor. It’s pretty safe to say that Elektra will be a force to be reckoned with.

“Gladiators” is set to premiere at 7.30pm on Monday, January 15, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand. Miss this premiere? Catch up on 10 Play.
