Gwyneth Paltrow Cleared of Any Fault In Ski Crash Trial

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has just been cleared of any wrongdoing in her ski crash trial.

In 2016, Paltrow collided with a retired optometrist, Terry Sanderson, while skiing at Utah’s Deer Valley Resort. The incident left Sanderson with a concussion and four broken ribs. Seven years later (yes, you read that right) he subsequently sued Paltrow for a whopping $300,000, claiming that her reckless skiing caused the crash.

But Paltrow didn’t take this lying down. She counter-sued for a measly $1 and her legal fees, insisting that she was not at fault for the collision. And, guess what? The jury ultimately agreed with her, finding that Sanderson was to blame for the accident.

In a statement after the verdict was announced, Paltrow expressed her relief and appreciation for the hard work of the judge and jury.

“I felt that acquiescing to a false claim comprised my integrity,” Paltrow said following the verdict. “I am pleased with the outcome, and I appreciate all of the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury, and thank them for their thoughtfulness in handling this case.”

Why Was Taylor Swift Dragged Into the Case?

During the trial, Sanderson’s lawyer asked Paltrow if she was inspired to countersue for such a small amount because of Taylor Swift‘s successful countersuit in 2015. Swift was awarded $1 in damages for sexual assault and battery.

Paltrow denied it, but she did say she learned about the lawsuit since then.

But wait, there’s more! The lawyer also asked Paltrow about her “friendly” but not “good” relationship with the “Shake It Off” singer. The defence even brought up that infamous video where Paltrow gave Swift a vibrator as a gift. Crazy, right?! What’s even crazier is that the judge actually allowed the questioning, so things are getting juicy.

Now, we don’t know what this means for Taylor or if she’ll have to get more involved in this whole legal mess, but it’s definitely not something we expected to hear.

Some people are wondering if there’s more to the story, while others think the lawyer just wanted to throw Paltrow off her game. Either way, Taylor Swift has now been pulled into a drama that has nothing to do with her.
