Spotify Wrapped 2022 Is Here, and This Is What Aussies and the World Listened to the Most

As we bid farewell to 2022, we say hello to the launch of Spotify Wrapped.

The streaming service has dropped its annual round-up of the most listened-to music and podcasts from the year, as well as every user’s personalised Wrapped.

In case you don’t know, Spotify Wrapped provides members with a retrospective look at what they’ve been jamming out to throughout the year and gives you a rundown of your favourite songs, genres, artists and podcasts in 2022.

What Australia Streamed Most This Year

In news that surprises absolutely no one, Taylor Swift has taken out Australia’s most streamed artist of 2022, and Harry Styles track, “As It Was”, was the country’s most streamed song.

The Kid LAROI was Australia’s most-streamed local artist, with his song “Stay” featuring Justin Bieber taking the number one spot for the most-streamed local artist song.

The rapper has had a big year, with his track “Thousand Miles” sitting at number five most listened to and his album “F*CK LOVE 3+: OVER YOU” being the third most-streamed album in the country.

He was beaten by Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran when it came to Australia’s most streamed album, with “Harry’s House” taking the number one spot followed by Ed’s “=” at number two.

When it came to podcasts, “The Joe Rogan Experience” was the one people tuned in to the most, followed by “ABC News Briefing”, “Casefile True Crime”, “The Inspired Unemployed” and “Call Her Daddy”.

What the World Streamed Most This Year

When it comes to the rest of the world, there was a clear winner. Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny has become the first artist to top Spotify’s most-streamed artist three years in a row, generating over 18.5 billion streams this year.

Taylor Swift came in at second place, followed by Drake, The Weeknd and BTS. 

Harry Styles’ “As It Was” was not only the most listened-to track in Australia, but it was also the most streamed around the world, with the song having been played 1.6 billion times globally.

Bad Bunny’s record “Un Verano Sin Ti” was the most-streamed album, followed by Harry’s “Harry’s House”.

As for podcasts, Joe Rogan sits on top with “The Joe Rogan Experience”.

“Call Her Daddy” came second, and “Anything Goes with Emma Chamberlain” came third.
