The Easiest Way to Clear Your Netflix Viewing History

Tired of getting Netflix recommendations based off that one show you stopped watching after two episodes and wondering how you can delete your Netflix history? Good news: You can remove a title from your Netflix viewing history to make that stop! Maybe you don’t want to be reminded of that time when you caved in and finally decided to watch “Tiger King” along with the rest of the world. Because, you know, “Bridgerton” is much better suited for your refined taste, anyway. Instead of having a bunch of Netflix shows you haven’t watched in ages clogging up your “continue watching” feed – and skewing your recommendations – there’s a handy feature that lets you remove the stuff you don’t want in your Netflix watch history anymore. It’s one of many Netflix hacks that lets you remove individual episodes, movies, or entire shows from your history, so you’ve only got the stuff you actually want in the algorithm.
How to Delete Netflix History
Turns out, clearing out your Netflix history is way easier than you think! It mostly involves you toggling around your Profile page, where you’ll eventually be presented with a list of every single title you’ve ever watched before deciding which ones stay and which ones get the boot. Once you do this, Netflix’s algorithm resets so you’ll no longer see recommendations for shows and movies that feel irrelevant to your current interests.

Follow these easy steps ahead to clear your Netflix history now!

Step 1: View Homepage
Start off on your Netflix homepage, where you can see your “continue watching” row along with trends and recommendations. Make sure you’re on your own profile, if you’re on a device or account that has multiple.

Step 2: Select "Account"
In the upper-right corner of your screen, select “Account” under the drop-down menu. Again, make sure you’re selecting the correct profile if there are multiple.

Step 3: Open Viewing Activity
When you arrive on your profile page, you’ll have to scroll all the way to the bottom, under the section labeled “Profile & Parental Controls.” Click the blue “View” link on the right, next to the “Viewing Activity” option.

Step 4: Find the Show to Delete
You’ll be presented with a long list of every episode and movie you’ve watched, along with dates (yes, please enjoy this revelation of what yours truly has been watching lately). When you find the show you want to remove, click the little line-within-a-circle symbol on the far right next to your choice.

Step 5: Clear an Entire Show
If you want to clear out an entire show from your viewing history, you’ll see an option to do so after deleting one episode to “Hide Series.” Clicking this option will remove every episode of the show from your viewing history and will mean that Netflix’s algorithm will no longer take it into account for recommending you new shows and movies.
