Gossip Girl Is Back With a Vengeance In a Steamy New Full-Length Trailer

Gossip Girl

It’s been nine years since we were last in the Upper East Side and the infamous Gossip Girl website went dark, and now, we are about to head back there once again with the reboot of Gossip Girl.

While Serena, Dan, Chuck and Blair are off living extravagant lives in their mid-thirties, a whole new generation of New York private school teens are being introduced to social surveillance — and this time, the technology is way better. Goodbye flip phones and BlackBerrys and hello smartphones and social media.

The new series explores just how much social media — and the landscape of New York itself — has changed in the intervening years. And in a surprise new trailer, we’re introduced to GG 2.0. She’s moved her platform to Instagram and you better believe she’s not gone soft; ready to ruin reputations and push friendships to breaking point by exposing high school scandals and, of course, secret relationships.

Set to the Frank Ocean hit Super Rich Kids (which OG Gossip Girl fans will remember from the season five episode ‘Monstrous Ball’) the new group of popular trust fund babies are seen inducting a new outsider, stalking the halls, and getting it on with a bunch of hotties. You know, normal high school things!

If you’re like us and are burning to watch the show, the wait is over because Gossip Girl will premiere in Australia on July 8, only on BINGE.

Developed by showrunner Joshua Safran, a writer and executive producer on the original series, this new iteration is an extension of the pop culture classic which ran from 2007 – 2012.

The series, which made Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Ed Wicks, Penn Badgley and Chace Crawford household names, was based on the bestselling novels by Cecily von Ziegesar.

Now, a whole new set of gorgeous teens are making their way to centre stage. The new series stars Jordan Alexander, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Tavi Gevinson, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Zion Moreno, Whitney Peak and Savannah Lee Smith.

Kristen Bell has returned as the voice of anonymous blogger, Gossip Girl, narrating the lives of this new crop of talent, chasing influence and status through a loyal social following.

If you need your fix before then, you can catch up on the original series with every season now streaming on BINGE, and watch the hot new Gossip Girl trailer right here.
