Joe Woodbury was just brutally dumped by Elly Miles ahead of the final ceremony on The Bachelorette. Yet, with his final words about the season on Instagram, he's as lovely as ever.
"Sometimes things don't work out, no matter how much we want them to, and that's just life," he began. "I've said from the beginning of this whole experience that I'm a firm believer of fate, and that everything happens for a reason, and for me this means that it hasn't been my fate to find love here. I hold my head high knowing I stuck by who I am, and know that I put everything on the table with how I felt."
He went on to thank his family and friends, and his fans, for their love and support, before turning his attention to the Miles sisters. "To both Elly and Becky, you are both incredible women and carried yourself so well throughout the entire journey, you both deserve great things and I truely hope you find what you are after in life !
"For me, this means that my search for love continues ❤️"
Joe told Elly in the finale that he was "falling in love" with her, after they headed on a steamboat-paddleboard date. But unfortunately Elly just didn't have the same sizzling connection with Joe, who she had dated in the real world, as she did with Frazer.
Throughout the season, the other contestants were keen to find out the nature of Joe's relationship with Elly, but he would not be moved. Instead, he said it was up to Elly to decide what she wanted to share. It was the kind of respectful move that garnered him a number of fans, who were devastated to see him lose at the final hurdle.
Rejecting Joe at his accommodation, Elly gushed about his good qualities, from his humour to his kindness. But, "I'd be lying to myself and I'd be lying to you if I didn't come and tell you honestly that my heart's elsewhere. Joe, I'm so sorry."
Afterwards, Joe said he was "gutted" by Elly's decision, but was still processing it. He told her that she deserved love, the world.
And perfect Joe deserves love too!
