Leonardo DiCaprio may be best known as an Oscar-winning actor, but outside of his blockbuster movies, he’s incredibly passionate about the environment and the effects of climate change. He set up the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation in 1998 as the basis for his continuing activism efforts. The nonprofit serves as a place to further awareness about the environment and spread awareness about how people can help. For decades, DiCaprio has been vocal about global warming, climate change, dangers in the animal kingdom, and everything else that affects planet Earth. Leonardo DiCaprio created, produced, co-wrote, and narrated this documentary that touches on the harsh truths of environmental issues like global warming, deforestation, mass species extinction, and more. The film includes input from numerous politicians, scientists, and more experts.

Before the Flood

Before the Flood, which was co-produced and narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, focuses specifically on global warming. DiCaprio travels the world to see the different effects climate change has had everywhere while examining the dangers of denying climate change.

And We Go Green

Leonardo DiCaprio stars in and produced this documentary on Formula 1 racing. The film follows the race circuit to feature drivers using electronic cars and green energy while touching on how it’s an improvement for the environment.

Cowspiracy

Cowspiracy takes a closer look at climate change and how animal agriculture (the branch of agriculture that mass produces animals for meat, fibre, milk, and other human consumption) affect it. It was originally released in 2014, but was subsequently updated in 2015 with Leonardo DiCaprio as an executive producer.

The Ivory Game

This documentary, which Leonardo DiCaprio executive produced, examines elephant poaching in Africa and how the ivory trade affects the environment and the animal kingdom. Over more than a year, filmmakers went undercover to get a real look at ivory being smuggled from Africa to China and London.
