It’s bad news for Lewis Capaldi fans who planned on heading to one of his shows in the coming weeks. The 26-year-old has announced that he’s cancelled all his upcoming gigs except Glastonbury Festival after suffering from various health concerns, so that he can focus on being, simply, “Lewis from Glasgow”.

The Scottish star took to his Instagram Stories on 5 June to make the announcement. “This is a really difficult message, and one that hurts me a lot to have to type, but I’m really sorry to say I’m going to have to cancel all commitments from now until I play Glastonbury on June 24th,” he wrote. The “Someone You Loved” singer added that he has to “take the time to rest and recover, and be at my best and ready for Glastonbury and all the other incredible shows coming up so that I’m able to continue doing what I love for a long time to come.”

The 26-year-old has been candid about his own mental health recently, via his honest Netflix documentary, “How I’m Feeling Now”. He opened up about his recent Tourette’s diagnosis, as well as his experiences with panic attacks and the overwhelming pressure he felt to produce his second album, “Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent”. While his return to the spotlight has been met with praise, it’s clear it’s taken its toll on the star. “I need to take these weeks to be Lewis from Glasgow for a bit, spend some time with my family and friends and do normal life things that are an important part of me feeling better. I hope everyone understands,” he added in his heartening Instagram post.

Prior to his announcement, Capaldi had been scheduled to play concerts in Glasgow, Dublin, London, and Norway as part of his sold-out tour – which he previously took to the US and Canada wearing a typically tongue-in-cheek cowboy outfit. We hope that Capaldi is back to his playful antics on stage soon, and gets all the rest he needs.
