There’s not long until “Married At First Sight” ends, with the final vows creeping up upon us.

As the show draws to a close, the couples are forced to confront the reality of their relationships outside the experiment. And for some, namely Lyndall and Cam, it’s a tough conversation to have. But Cam decided to lay it all out on the table at the latest dinner party.

The groom has never had a girlfriend before. For the past eight years, he has worked as a carpenter in Indigenous communities in the remote Northern Territory of Darwin. Now, it sounds like that’s not something he’s willing to give up. He also doesn’t see the point in his ‘wife’ Lyndall, who lives in Perth, moving states to be with him.

Did Cam just think the experts were going to match him with someone that already lived in the remote Northern Territory?

“What’s the point of moving?” he questioned. “Why would you move from Perth from all your family when I’m not gonna be in Darwin? I’m gonna be out remote.”

“I could be out there for two weeks, I could be out there for a month, I could be out there six months to a year.”

Look, we kind of see now why Cam might not have had a girlfriend before.

Lyndall Was Shocked By Cam’s Words

Cam’s honesty took Lyndall aback. “I didn’t realise just how long he’d be away. I just went into shock. I really don’t know what we’re gonna do,” she confided to the cameras.

Cam explained that he wants a future with Lyndall but “being outside the experiment is really gonna challenge us.” He also admitted that he couldn’t just “drop his career” and move to Perth after his remote work.

“I’m in a bit of a weird place because I was under the impression I was gonna move to Darwin. But now the situation is ‘can I handle a long-distance relationship and is this relationship gonna survive that long-distance?’

“You wanna go back to your career without any kind of moulding me into that.”

Understandably, Lyndall felt disappointed with what she was hearing. She felt like Cam wasn’t trying to mould her into his life back home.

“He doesn’t really see me being a part of his plan. Cam said ‘well this is my career, this is my plan’, there’s no real compromise from there,” she told producers. “It’s actually incredibly hurtful to hear that he’s not considering me at all.”

It’s not looking great for Cam and Lyndall, who we had such high hopes for. The challenge of a long-distance relationship may prove too much to overcome.

Fans Left Outraged By Cam’s Actions

Viewers have taken to Twitter to express their anger towards the “MAFS” groom, questioning why he even went on the experiment to begin with. While others thought he was just making excuses.

“Cam’s just a walking ick. why is he here? why is he dragging Lyndall along? swear they found all these trash guys at the local servo,” one viewer wrote.

“Married At First Sight” airs Sunday at 7.00pm and Monday — Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
