Alvin Quah Is Ready to Give It His All on MasterChef Australia: Fans & Favourites

Network Ten

We were first introduced to the lovable Alvin Quah on season 2 of MasterChef Australia, and we’ve been eagerly waiting to see him on-screen again ever since. Still rocking those famed spectacles that he quickly became known for, Quah is making his way back into the MasterChef kitchen 12 years later.

Quah’s approach to cooking is just as fun as he is, and over the last few years, he’s been on a mission to increase awareness of Malaysian cuisine. Born in Kuala Lumpur with Chinese Malaysian heritage, Quah is fluent in both Cantonese and Hokkien. His love of Malaysian food stems from childhood, and his ultimate food dream is to make Malaysian cuisine as renowned as Chinese and Thai.

Moving to Melbourne in 1994 to complete his PhD in Science, Quah was inspired by Western culture and questioned how Malaysian and Western cuisine could be fused together in a way where both traditions were respected.

Soon, his MasterChef Australia journey came knocking, where he finished in sixth place and became a household name. Since leaving the show, Quah was appointed as the ambassador of Asian food brand Ayam and Australian Pork. He has gone on to host many cooking shows nationally and internationally, including the TV series Malaysia Kitchen in 2016.

Proving time and time again that he can do it all, Quah is going to be tough to beat. Crediting his mum for igniting his love of cooking, Quah is confident that he has what is takes to win MasterChef Australia: Fans & Favourites.

MasterChef Australia: Fans and Favourites premieres Monday, April 18 on Channel 10 and 10Play.
