The second season of “The Ultimatum,” coming to Netflix later this month, has a major difference from the streamer’s other hit reality dating shows like “Love Is Blind.” The upcoming season, subtitled “Queer Love,” exclusively features a cast of couples made up of women and nonbinary people who all identify as, of course, queer.

Just like in the first season of “The Ultimatum,” one-half of each couple has issued a warning: they marry now, or ultimately break up. But since everyone could potentially couple up (or hook up) with everyone else, there are a lot of opportunities for maximum chaos when the show returns this month – which Netflix teased when it released the first trailer for the new season on April 16. The streamer then dropped the full trailer on May 3 and announced the cast members whose lives are about to be upended by the show’s drama.

Season one of the hit show premiered on Netflix in April 2022. That May, Chris Coelen, the founder of Kinetic Content (which produces the show), opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about what viewers can expect from season two. “We’re already well into season two, and it’s amazing,” he said. “Honestly, it’s so good – stories are so interesting.”

Coelen continued: “The cast of participants in season two is a very different set of participants than we saw on season one. This is a very big, common question, and a huge milestone for people who are interested in getting married. Just setting up the experience and the stakes of that, and then just allowing them to really go through this in the way that makes sense for them. It turned out to be very different, but equally as great, as season one.”

Ahead, here’s everything to know about “The Ultimatum: Queer Love,” including the release date.
