Pauly Fenech Is Ready to Be Taken Seriously on SAS Australia

Channel 7

The countdown to SAS Australia is on, and Channel 7 have been slowly giving us previews into what we can expect in the upcoming season. One of the celebrity contestants this year is Pauly Fenech, who is best known for his comedy work in Fat Pizza, Housos and Bogan Hunters. But he’s dropping the act and letting his vulnerable side show through on SAS Australia.

“People probably think I’m this burnout-doing, hot tub-loving silly comedian,” he says. “This is gonna be the serious side of Pauly Fenech that people haven’t seen before.”

In a teaser for the latest instalment, Pauly is spotted facing a number of gruelling challenges, including one where he’s set on fire along a beach. But Pauly is resilient, and this definitely isn’t his first rodeo.

“I’m the little guy who’s copped it his whole life,” he says. Pauly is one of 17 Aussie celebs embarking on a life-altering experience, where former SAS soldiers subject them to physical and psychological tests from the real SAS selection process.

“If I actually pass, I’ll be like Muhammad Ali, I’ll be pumping myself up for the next 20 years,” he says.

Completely cut off from the outside world, the famous personalities will be stripped of their plushy lifestyles and will be required to eat, sleep and train together in tough conditions.

Returning to guide the recruits is Chief Instructor Ant Middleton and Directing Staff Ollie Ollerton. Joining them for the very first time will be retired US Navy SEAL Clint Emerson and former British Special Forces soldier Dean Stott.

From interrogation to sleep deprivation, there is no way the recruits could prepare for what they’re about to face. Whether Pauly will have it in him to push right to the end is yet to be seen

SAS Australia premieres in February on Channel 7 and 7plus.
