It’s the 2004 Super Bowl scandal that just won’t quit and now Janet Jackson’s stylist has claimed that Justin Timberlake pushed for one of the most infamous “wardrobe malfunctions” in pop culture history.

According to Superstylist Wayne Scot Lukas, Timberlake “insisted on doing something bigger” than the three-way kiss between Madonna, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the MTV Video Music Awards that same year.

“He wanted a reveal,” the stylist told Page Six, before adding, “I wouldn’t call it a wardrobe ‘malfunction’ in a million years. It was the most functioning wardrobe in history. As a stylist, it did what it was intended to do.”

According to Scot Lukas, Jackson was actually going to be wearing a “pearl G-string” and the Cry Me A River was going to “step on the back of her dress to reveal her butt”.

Back in February this year, Timberlake issued an apology to both Jackson and his ex-girlfriend Spears.

In a lengthy message on Instagram, the former *NSync star owned up to his “ignorance” surrounding the media treatment of his former partner following their break-up and also addressed the coverage surrounding the Super Bowl Performance.

“I’ve seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns and I want to respond. I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right. I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism,” he wrote.

According to his interview with Page Six, Scot Lukas said that Timberlake’s apology sparked him to speak out after 17 years.

“Janet has already forgiven Justin in private. They made their peace a long time ago,” he said.

Scot Lukas is working on a tell-all book which will feature more juicy titbits from the world of fashion and showbiz.
