The ABC is Hiring a Digital Producer to Create a New Gaming Channel

ABC

The ABC is hiring a digital producer to help build new TikTok and YouTube channels about gaming and gaming culture. The successful candidate will be involved in scripting, shooting, editing, publishing and socials for videos aimed at teens and tweens.

According to a job listing on the ABC Careers site, the ABC is looking for someone with experience producing video content for online audiences, although they don’t mention how many years’ experience they need. The other mandatories include knowledge of different video platforms and an understanding of what kind of videos work for YouTube and TikTok, and the ideal candidate will also be comfortable producing — and maybe even presenting — content about games. “Bonus points if you’re a bit of a visual effects wizard,” they say.

We don’t know much about the job itself or the new channels at the moment, but anyone who’s familiar with the ABC’s previous gaming show Good Game will probably have a few theories about the new content. The show was cancelled in 2017 and its spin-off, Spawn Point, is still running with hosts Angharad Yeo and Gemma Driscoll. Spawn Point is also aimed at younger gamers, so it’ll be interesting to see where the new channels fit in.

The ABC is also hiring a YouTube host and producer to work on the channel, which will involve writing, presenting and developing new video ideas. If you have experience producing videos, know how to grow a subscriber base, have unnecessary LEDs on your computer (they’re joking about this one, but it couldn’t hurt…) and feel comfortable on camera, the ABC wants to hear from you. They specifically call out people with “fresh perspectives and opinions on gaming and gaming culture”.

Reckon you’re the perfect candidate to bring the ABC’s new gaming channels to life? You can apply for the digital producer role here and the YouTube host and producer role here.
