41 Times Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian’s Romance Was a Grand Slam

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian shocked the world when they announced their engagement in December 2016, but since then, they haven’t been shy about putting their love on full display. Despite keeping a low profile, the couple’s romance can actually be traced back to 2015. The tennis champion and Reddit cofounder reportedly first hit it off that year, and Alexis was front and center cheering on Serena at the 2015 US Open. He continued to hint at the romance throughout 2016, but he didn’t pop up on Serena’s Instagram until August 2016 when she shared a group photo of them hanging out with friends.

In September 2017, the pair welcomed their first child together, daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. – often referred to as Olympia. And two months later, they tied the knot in a beautiful star-studded ceremony attended by famous folks like Beyoncé, JAY-Z, Kim Kardashian, Ciara, and Eva Longoria. Now, the couple are expecting their second child together, another baby girl, and they’ve been keeping fans up-to-date about their little one on the way – from Williams’s baby shower and babymoon to her pregnancy photos.

Even with their whirlwind romance, Williams has been transparent about the realities of marriage with husband Ohanian. “Marriage is not bliss. But it can be if you work at it,” she admitted during a question game with Bumble in March 2021, adding that “a dealbreaker for me in a relationship is definitely loyalty. Well, not having it, that is.”

Ohanian even went to bat for his wife when Drake threw shade at them in his 2022 song “Middle of the Ocean”: “Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie / He claim we don’t got a problem but / No, boo, it is like you comin’ for sushi.” The entrepreneur responded to the rapper’s line that November by tweeting, “The reason I stay winning is because I’m relentless about being the absolute best at whatever I do – including being the best groupie for my wife and daughter.”
