Poppy Decides to Leave the Experiment (and Luke!) on Tonight’s Married at First Sight
Poppy and Luke seemed to start off episode ten of Married at First Sight hopeful about their relationship, as they moved in together after the first commitment ceremony. Poppy was "relieved" to be here.
But Luke immediately put his foot in it. "Well, we're here for a week. We've gotta make the opportunity…" Poppy heard that as a deadline — we have one week to make this relationship work or we call it quits.
Luke remained hopeful that they'd be able to connect with each other, organising a fancy steak and vegetable with red wine jus dinner. But Poppy was still sulking about his one week comment when he came back from the supermarket, and said she wasn't hungry.
The couple ended up sleeping in separate apartments, before Poppy resolved to leave, with remarkable self-reflection. She noted that all she's done this entire time is cry about having to be separated from her kids. She's "that chick on TV that doesn't stop crying, that annoying person".
A producer told Luke the solemn news, and he was as understanding as ever, but a little teary. "That's devastating" was his initial response. "I did try, and I think she did too, but I think she was overwhelmed.
He ultimately concluded that the whole situation was "shit", leaving his fake wedding ring on the bed. "I had hope for me and Poppy, and I wanted a happy ending more than anything else."
We're so sad for both Luke and Poppy! But at least now Poppy can be reunited with her kids.
