Looks like the royal family will welcome a new member sooner rather than later! On Jan. 24, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank announced that they’re expecting their second child later this year, and now, Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Furguson, Duchess of York, has reportedly revealed the baby’s due date.
In a May interview with ¡Hola! TV (via Hello!), Ferguson was asked what the sex of Eugenie’s future baby is, to which she responded, “Well, we don’t know what it is yet. But the baby is due by the end of May, I think. So it’s any minute now.” That means Eugenie and Brooksbank’s new baby will join big brother August Philip Hawke, who was born in February 2021, in just a matter of weeks.
Ferguson, who’s the author of nearly 50 children’s books, went on to explain what type of grandmother she is, sharing, “I’m probably one of the best grannies ever. The best abuela ever because I think like a three-year-old.”
Eugenie and Brooksbank first announced they were having baby no. 2 via a statement from Buckingham Palace. “Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank are pleased to announce they are expecting their second child this summer,” the announcement read. “The family are delighted and August is very much looking forward to being a big brother.”
The soon-to-be mom of two made a less formal announcement via her Instagram shortly afterward, posting a photo of herself all bundled up outside while little August kissed her belly. “We’re so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer,” she wrote.
August made his royal debut during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant in London in June 2022. Unlike most of the royal children, little August frequently appears on Instagram thanks to his mom embracing social media. In fact, she and Brooksbank announced they were expecting their first child in a 2020 Instagram post featuring a pair of tiny slippers. “Jack and I are so excited for early 2021…” Eugenie wrote.
The couple later shared the first photos of August on Eugenie’s Instagram as well. “We wanted to introduce you to August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.. ???,” she captioned a post. “Thank you for so many wonderful messages. Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can’t express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you.”
Eugenie and Brooksbank first met in 2010, before getting engaged in January 2018. The couple then married on Oct. 12, 2018, in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
