California, Here We Come! Rachel Bilson is Hosting an ‘O.C.’ Podcast and We Can’t Wait
“Join the original OC bitches, friends and co-stars, Rachel Bilson and Melinda Clarke, for a trip back to the early 2000s. Zip up your Juicy Couture tracksuits and grab a seat by the pool while they deliver the ultimate OC-rewatch podcast. Each week they’ll take you back to a particular episode, share behind-the-scenes scoop, and interview guests who were part of the OC experience.”
So reads the official description of a new podcast, aptly titled Welcome to the OC, Bitches!, which will be hosted by Bilson and Clarke who played Summer Roberts and Julie Cooper on The O.C.
The series, which ran from 2003 to 2007, was a much-loved teen-drama series that is still enjoyed by audiences today. The series explored the story of Ryan Atwood, a smoking hot hoodie enthusiast with an unfortunate penchant for chokers, who is adopted by an obscenely wealthy family in Newport Beach, California. Despite being a glossy teen series, The O.C. could also be quite gritty and also covered topics such as also managed to explore important themes such as substance abuse, white privilege, familial relationships and domestic violence.
Now, over more than 100 episodes, Bilson and Clarke will take us back to Newport Beach with the help of special guests including sociologists who will explain the show’s lasting impact.
Also set to make an appearance? Sandy-freaking-Cohen himself. That’s right, Deadline reports that Peter Gallagher will be one of the featured guests as will series creator Josh Schwartz.
“I’m so excited to be doing this podcast with Mindy,” Bilson said. “I think everyone could use a little light and laughter after the year we have endured. Going back and watching all of these episodes has been so fun and I can’t wait to talk about it all, my own personal experiences as well as others involved with the show.
“From behind the camera, to the makeup trailer to the faces on screen, I hope you will all tune in and come with us back to the OC.”
Welcome to the OC, Bitches! will premiere on April 27 on all podcast platforms. Listen to the trailer here.
