Some MasterChef Fans Reckon That Tessa Was Unfairly Eliminated on Last Night's Episode
Fans pointed out two instances of uneven treatment from the judges. When Reynold Poernomo was missing the sponge from his classic Bombe Alaska, the judges reminded him of the crucial element during the cook. But when Tessa's tartare sauce didn't feature capers, as the judges expected, they only told her when they were tasting the dish.
Later, Tessa's Indian fish tacos were called too flavoursome and thus unbalanced, with Mexican-style pineapple salsa and hot sauce dominating the dish. The judges were critical of whether it was truly a fusion of Indian flavours with Mexican ideas.
But people online argued that a "flavour bomb" is exactly how Indian-style tacos should taste. They also noted that Reynold was not penalised for using a pre-made sorbet from the pantry for his space-inspired dessert, which had a soggy sponge and strangely textured mousse.
Some people argued the opposite though — that the fish taco dish wasn't really creative at all, and that her dish couldn't compare to Reynold's in terms of creativity. Tessa herself commented that she couldn't best Reynold. "I did as best as I could," she said when she was eliminated. "I couldn't beat Reynold. His mind is so incredible."
What we know for sure is that we're all going to miss Tessa's considered cooking on MasterChef!
