Everyone’s favourite funny guy Ryan Reynolds has announced that he will be taking a brief sabbatical from acting, following the wrap of his latest movie. While the news has come as a surprise, it makes sense as the Deadpool star was one of the busiest actors of 2021.

The actor is currently promoting the release of two different movies — The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard and Free Guy — with a third on the way next month (Netflix’s Red Notice). Before announcing the break, Ryan was busy filming Spirited, a comedy Christmas movie starring Will Ferrell and Octavia Spencer. The 44-year-old opened up about his experience in a social media post while stating that he will be taking a break from acting.

“Singing, dancing and playing in the sandbox with Will Ferrell made a whole lotta dreams come true. And this is my second film with the great @octaviaspencer…” He wrote. “Perfect time for a little sabbatical from movie making. I’m gonna miss every second working with this obscenely gifted group of creators and artists.

“These days, kindness matters as much as talent. I’ve been lucky to work with folks who are flush with both.”

Ryan didn’t specify just how long this break will last, but there’s no denying that it’s very well deserved. And of course, Ryan’s famous wife Blake Lively couldn’t help but make a funny quip, commenting on the post: Michael Caine did it first.” The Gossip Girl star was referring to the British actor’s announcement that his most recent role would be his last, but he has since then clarified that he has not retired from acting.
