“I’ve Lost it All”: Sam Burgess Breaks Down on SAS Australia

Channel 7

SAS Australia is hitting our screens soon, and while the cast features plenty of well-known celebs, there was one name that stood out among the rest: Sam Burgess.

The former South Sydney captain has a tainted past, with a number of explosive allegations against him, his retirement from the NRL wasn’t exactly an easy one.

After The Australian published a series of allegations against him, Burgess stood down from his roles as a commentator and South Sydney assistant coach.

His family still firmly denies what has been said about him.

He then pled guilty to three driving offences in May this year, after being stopped by authorities and testing positive for cocaine.

But the most difficult period he had to deal with was his marriage breaking down, something he still hasn’t been able to fully come to terms with.

“I’ve lost my career, my kids and my marriage. I’ve lost it all,” said Burgess during an intense interrogation from SAS Chief Instructor Ant Middleton.

In an attempt to turn his life around, Burgess quit drinking and drugs altogether.

On SAS Australia, Burgess is subjected to tear gas and other extremities and reveals he’s lost respect for himself and is scared of the dark.

He is one of the 18 celebrities that will appear on the show and will face a number of physical and psychological tests from the real SAS selection process.

SAS Australia is set to premiere this September on Channel 7 and 7plus.
