The Afterparty Features an All-Star Cast, But Where Have You Seen Them Before?
Apple TV+ is on fire lately, with smash hit shows like Ted Lasso and The Morning Show. And now, they’re adding another winner to their list with The Afterparty. The comedy series promises a great premise, a large ensemble cast and of course, a lot of laughs.
Available to watch now on the streaming platform, the murder mystery stars Tiffany Haddish who plays detective Danner alongside Sam Richardson, Dave Franco, Ben Schwarts and John Early, who will take on the role of Tiffany’s partner, Detective Culp.
As the name suggests, The Afterparty takes place after a high school reunion, during which one of the former classmates dies under suspicious circumstances. Called to investigate, Tiffany Haddish’s Detective Danner is called onto the scene to find out who is responsible.
With each of the eight episodes told through the perspective of a different character, filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller said the whodunit genre will be approached in a “new and exciting way”.
The Afterparty is available to stream now on Apple TV+ in January 2022.
The show, which features some major players, may have you wondering where you’ve seen them before. And we’ve got you covered.
Tiffany Haddish
Pretty much everyone is familiar with Tiffany Haddish, the stand-up comedian, actress and author. This definitely isn’t her first rodeo, starring in movies alongside Kevin Hart and Queen Latifah.
Her resume includes movies like Girls Trip, Night School, Like A Boss and she’s also voiced a number of animated characters in films like Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe and The Secret Life of Pets.
She first began acting in 2005 and has also won a Primetime Emmy Award for her work as a host on an episode of Saturday Night Live.
Dave Franco
He’s not only the brother of actor James Franco, but Dave has a stellar acting career of his own. Starting out with small roles in films such as Superbad and Charlie St. Cloud, the 36-year-old went on to nab major roles in Now You See Me, 21 Jump Street and Bad Neighbours.
Now, in The Afterparty, Dave takes on Xavier, drama-student-turned-famous-entertainer.
Sam Richardson
Sam Richardson is an American actor, writer, producer but most notably, a comedian. He’s made us laugh in We’re the Millers and also made an appearance in season 2 of Ted Lasso. He is set to star in Hocus Pocus 2 alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Midler.
John Early
Considering The Afterparty is ultimately a comedy-drama, the number of comedians on the show shouldn’t surprise you. John Early is an actor and a comedian and has appeared on 30 Rock as Jenna Maroney’s son. He’s worked alongside Emma Thompson and Mindy Kaling in the movie Late Night and played the role of Logan on Wet Hot American Summer.
Zoë Chao

Ike Barinholtz (or Isaac Barinholtz) is best known for his starring roles in the comedy series MADtv, Eastbound & Down, The Mindy Project and Bless the Harts.
