4 Questions We Need Answered in ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ S2

It’s been over a year since we first met Belly Conklin in Prime Video‘s “The Summer I Turned Pretty“. We were thrown into that love triangle — or was it a square? — right alongside her, and now we can’t get enough. The wait is finally over, with the second season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” out on Prime Video on July 14.

A new summer at Cousins Beach once meant a time filled with magical charm, but will this time be different? Are we bound for more too-cute moments between Belly and Conrad, Belly and Jeremiah, and beyond? Or have things changed? The show’s first season left us with a lot to think about, and now, before we press play on season 2, here are some questions we need answered.

How Will Susannah’s Death Impact Cousins?

In the first clips we saw of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” season two, we learned that Belly, Conrad, Jeremiah, and co. are in the wake of something tragic. Susannah has passed away. This is obviously going to have a huge impact on the lives of Conrad and Jeremiah, but how is it going to impact what has been such a special tradition for so many people?

Conrad and Jeremiah are dealing with it in their own ways. We also know that, with Susannah’s passing, the beloved Cousins house is now on the market. But what does this mean for the future of this tradition? And how will it impact the Conkins’ relationship with the Fishers?

Who is Skye, and What Will They Bring to Cousins Beach?

Now, we know some of our favourites from season one won’t be returning for the second season, including Shayla and, obviously, Susannah. But, two huge actors have since joined the cast — Elsie Fisher and Kyra Sedgwick. Fisher, who you might’ve caught in “Eighth Grade”, is taking on the role of Skye — a completely new character not in the original books by Jenny Han.

Having a new character like this built into the show means her role can lead almost anywhere. Could Belly find a new friend? Will her arrival impact the infamous love triangle? And what is her relationship to Susannah’s house?

Will Belly End Up With Jeremiah?

The last time we saw Belly and Jeremiah sharing a kiss, things were… very different. Their last kiss preceded the fateful debutante ball, in which everything begins to unravel. Jeremiah accompanied Belly to the ball, but when it came time for the couples’ dance, he was nowhere to be found. Of course, we now know that he had discovered Susannah’s illness, but at the time, Conrad had come to the rescue by dancing with Belly instead.

That was the last time we saw Jeremiah and Belly together in any sort of a romantic setting, and given the events that took place after between her and Conrad, it’s difficult to gauge how Belly and Jeremiah’s relationship can repair, if at all.

Or Will Belly End Up with Conrad?

Conrad’s kiss with Belly obviously threw a huge spanner in the works. Under difficult and highly emotional circumstances, Belly found comfort in one brother following the absence of another. Now, we know that both Conrad and Jeremiah have lost their mother, which, least of all things, complicates the love triangle so much more. But, given Conrad and Belly’s romantic moments by the water toward the ending of season one, it’s probably safe to say she’s in a better place with him than she is Jeremiah.

But, will all those feelings from last summer come rushing back this time around?
